A story of the building of the American West from a woman’s point of view. Based on the true story of Augusta Tabor, a pioneer who helped build Denver during the silver boom. When her husband, Haw Tabor, “The Silver King”, decides to run for Senate in 1883, he dumps his wife of over twenty years in a scandalous divorce, forcing Augusta to fight for what is rightly hers and build her independent identity. It’s the story of a woman who until now has been lost to history.
Meet Melissa
I am a philosopher at heart, curious about ideas and frameworks, wondering about the concept of truth and how it gets defined. I have a deep fascination with science, math and logic and how we wrap our heads around complex concepts through writing. Philosophically speaking, my persuasion is Realism and I tend to be leery of post-modernists, deconstructionists. I find the intersection between philosophy and story-telling an endeavor that leads to a deeper knowledge of humanity and self. Creative writing uses a different part of the brain altogether. Here, imagination is the engine for transporting different times and worlds that are entirely of one’s own making.
