My grandmother, of blessed memory, was born in Manhattan in 1909. She was a prodigy, attending Hunter College at the age of 16. She was 68 when I was born and she lived for another 40 years, long enough for both of my children to get to know her. 

My beloved grandmother was a prolific quilter.  In her one-hundred-eight-and-a-half years, she quilted thirty masterpieces.  Her quilts mirror the full color spectrum, fashioning measurements of energy into intricate geometrical patterns.
